Second Annual Michael J. Berkeley
Memorial Golf Tournament
September 15, 2003

The second annual Michael J. Berkeley Memorial Golf Tournament was held on September 15, 2003 at the Westchester Country Club in Harrison, New York, and hosted over 180 golf participants followed by an awards dinner and a very animated and competitive live auction. The purpose of the annual memorial golf tournament is not only to raise funds for the Michael J. Berkeley Foundation, but also to continue to celebrate and honor Michael Berkeley's legacy. The success of the Tournament was attributed to, first, and foremost, Earl "Butch" Graves of Black Enterprise Magazine, the many corporate and individual sponsors, and the Board of Directors of the Michael J. Berkeley Foundation.

In keeping with the Foundation's mission-to assist deserving minority youth realize their highest potential in the sport of golf through education, business ventures, or a professional golf career-the Board of Directors was pleased to honor and award the first recipients of the Michael J. In addition, the Board of Directors was pleased to sponsor two high school GOLFWORKS interns on behalf of the Michael J. Berkeley Foundation: Pernon L. Dunston and Courtney Hylton. The Foundation sponsored each of their $2,500 summer internships. In selecting our awardees, the Board of Directors sought candidates who personify Michael's legacy, which included a passion for golf, a zest for life, a thirst for knowledge, a belief in helping others, a drive for business success and a love of family.
